Homes
Structural stigma can manifest itself within the home, both physically and interpersonally.
For example, the architecture of homes can often be built to exclude neurodivergent bodies (e.g. stairs, high shelves, etc). Furthermore, the home can also be a place where structures are internalized and enacted. For example, a parent might yell at a child for being “lazy,” when in fact they are unable to get out of bed due to depression. In what ways do you think structural stigma can manifest itself within the site of the home?
