About

This site is the product of a co-creation process.

This project is part of a greater body of work examining the ways in which stigma is perpetuated implicitly, explicitly and structurally. Building on previous work and research examining the ways in which structural stigma impacts health outcomes, we sought to co-create a digital toolkit with patients and caregiver partners. Using principles of educational design research, we iteratively designed and tested a toolkit that reflected the goals of the co-design collective. The process took place over two design cycles, the first focusing on ideation and the second on product design and testing.

Our group used a non-hierarchical and generative framework to test and develop ideas that felt authentic to the voice of all co-designers. Over 12 workshops, vision boards and asynchronous work, we created a digital toolkit that reflects on the ways in which institutional and community spaces perpetuate and uphold structural stigma. Our website serves as a visual sphere to examine the ways stigma interacts with the larger institutional spaces that we occupy and how that in turn impacts the wellbeing of our communities, our relationships with others and ourselves. We hope that this can serve as a point of reflection to see the unseen and provide starting points for individuals and institutions to begin to tangibly define ways to dismantle structural stigma.
